Formulations

As an enthusiastic hands-on formulator, Dr. Roy Chen has worked for companies including Union Carbide, Rhone Poulenc, Aventis, Bayer CropScience, and ADAMA. Over his 38 years of career, Roy has been a co-inventor of 12 US patents in the area of agrichemical and biopesticide formulation technologies. He is an expert of utilizing surfactants, water soluble polymers, electrolytes, and other adjuvants in formulating chemical and biological pesticides, covering such complex technologies as gel formulation, suspension concentrate, suspoemulsion, microemulsion and seed treatment.

Being a technology team leader, Dr. Chen knows how to work with and satisfy customers, both internally and externally. The ag-industry is currently moving to less pesticide use and complicated combo/biological formulations in a digitized world to meet the stringent environmental demands while keeping biological efficacy high.

Roy received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from National CK University, Taiwan, his MS degree in Organic Chemistry from New Mexico Highlands University and PhD degree in Polymer Science from University of Akron.  He also did 2 year postdoctoral work in University of Alabama, before he joined industry.  Roy has co-authored more than a dozen scientific and online agrichemical publications.
